My name is Susan Edwards
I was born in Stockton-on-Tees and came to Sunderland in 1989 to study for a Fine Art degree. Sunderland captured my heart and since then I cannot imagine living anywhere without having access to a beach. I have worked in various jobs whilst bringing my three boys up.
A Childminder, Barista, Teaching Assistant in a SEN school and the last year as a Personal Assistant for a wonderful and creative woman who has encouraged me to continue painting and to make my work available to buy.
In the winter of 2018 I decided to join a group of wonderful people to swim in the North Sea and have been doing so at least three times a week all year round.
The community I have found is so varied and I feel so lucky to have laughed and cried with so many wonderful souls.
My paintings are about trying to capture the moments I see, the love that I witness between friends and the childish laughter that rings in the air every time I go to my local beach.
